BGCA Teen Coordinator*

Statement of General Purpose*
The BGCA Teen Coordinator is responsible for the management, supervision, and administration of after-school staff, programs and activities; fiscal planning, including funding and budgeting. This position is supervised by the Senior Director of Boys and Girls Clubs and Summer Programs.

Examples of Essential Functions and Responsibilities*
- Management and supervision of BGCA after-school/summer employees through his/her own efforts, and through subordinate supervisors under his/her leadership and direction; assists in the allocation of responsibilities and assignments; assists in the review and approval of results.
- Assists in the identification, planning, and preparation of proposals for programs to meet the needs of the members of the community; assists in the implementation, management, and administration of programs for which approval is granted.
- Coordinates recruiting, hiring, and retention of BGCA afterschool staff to meet or exceed government, funding source, and CPA regulations and requirements in accordance with established policy and procedure.
- Conducts staff performance appraisal meetings; assists in recommending merit increases; assists in counseling, disciplining, and recommending the termination of staff who fail to meet the rules, regulations, and requirements for their jobs.
- Assists in developing, proposing, and administering budgets.
- Identifies and presents to the executive management consideration for new programs, projects, and funding opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with government, funding source, and CPA regulations and requirements, including student ratios, licensing and certifications, program costs, health and safety, etc.
- Develops knowledge, awareness, and working relationships with social and human services programs and other resources available to club members, and their families.
- Ensures adequate inventory of supplies and equipment; orders additional and replacement supplies and equipment within budget parameters; ensures neat, clean, and secure storage for supplies and equipment.
- Assists in providing routine and exception reports to executive management; ensures complete and accurate files and records.
- Coordination and participation in in-service and outside staff training programs; utilizes training and educational opportunities to augment management and operations skills; applies new skills to the management.
- Meets with executive management, peers, staff, members, families, program participants, community agencies, etc. to maximize services, minimize costs, identify and resolve problems, etc.

Core Competencies*
- Knowledge of the methods, principles, and practices of supervision and management, including planning, directing, controlling, motivating, disciplining, training, and problem-solving in a stand-alone and satellite facility.
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to employees.
- Ability to provide executive management with accurate and timely reports and recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work productively with employees, clients, program participants, families, and other human services organizations in a positive, pleasant, professional, and productive manner in writing, by telephone, and in personal contacts.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and their use and applications in a professional environment.

Minimum Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field, and
- Five (5) years experience in a social service program, including
- Two (2) years as supervisor or group leader, or
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.

Other Requirements*
- This position includes the normal physical demands associated with a community center or similar program, including lifting, bending, and carrying; and travel to other facilities throughout the Philadelphia area.
- This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
