Summary of Position: WIHD is currently recruiting for a full time Resource and Referral Specialist to join the CSN team at WIHD. This position is hybrid and will be located at home, offsite district meetings and at WIHD's office in Valhalla, NY.
The Resource and Referral Specialist (RRS) will provide high quality, coordinated services to all constituents with the goal of improving outcomes for children with disabilities. Coordinating with a network of regional and NYS professionals, the RRS will provide training and support and host family forums to a wide variety of stakeholders of the disability community, including individuals and families, early childhood program or school staff, and professionals. The Partnership Implementation Team will provide primary content expertise through regular on-going training, professional development and coaching.
The CSN is home to all three of the Hudson Valley’s Early Childhood and School-age Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Centers funded through NYSED’s Office of Special Education’s Educational Partnership. Our work focuses on empowering schools, families and communities to improve equity, access, opportunities and outcomes for all students with disabilities.
Some Essential Functions Include:
- Using a systematized process approved by NYSED to provide regional training and support, made available to families and other stakeholders. The provision of such trainings and support by the RRS will be planned under the direction of the FEF;
- Identify and maintaining regional resource information for community partners that serve children/students with disabilities and their families, birth through age 21;
- Provide technical assistance and support to individual families seeking support and guidance;
- Take initiative to identify and cultivate new relationships with community partners who support children/students with disabilities birth-21, as well as strengthen and build upon already established relationships;
- Participate in NYSED/stakeholder meetings for the purpose of professional development. Attendance will be determined by NYSED.
Qualifications:
Kind and Length of Experience: 3 years minimum experience collaborating effectively with diverse community stakeholders; Experience and/or Family member of individuals with disabilities preferred; Knowledge of special education process and regulations; Familiarity and comfort with technology and Microsoft Office applications;
Experience with: Expertise in delivering professional development and technical assistance in early childhood, K12, and/or special education;
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree with Community Outreach Experience. Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work preferred;
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel independently throughout the Hudson Valley region of Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess and Orange counties, as well to Albany for meetings at least three times a year, as well carry and transport training materials and equipment;
Language Requirements: English/Spanish Fluency is preferred;
