St. Norbert School, a progressive, child-centered Catholic school is accepting applications for a part-time Speech Language Pathologist for the 2024-2025 school year.

The successful candidate will evaluate and diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders. S/he will treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. S/he will provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals. Finally, s/he will work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines to support the development of every students on his/her caseload.
Candidate must be a collaborative, enthusiastic, professional, who is dependable, warm, kind, innovative. Candidate must have experience and qualifications per the State of Illinois to work with children in an elementary school setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
- Identifying treatment options
- Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
- Teaching students how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
- Helping students improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
- Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to articulate words and sentences
- Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with communication disorders
- Interact with parents and community groups; maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationships.
- Write and compile individual assessments of each child's development; complete daily inventories, child attendance, and related reports.
- Work with local school district to manage IEPs and 504s.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution.
- Current Illinois Speech Language Pathologist licensure.

- Analytical skills for selecting the best diagnostic tools and analyzing results to identify an accurate diagnosis while developing an effective treatment plan.
- Communication skills for communicating diagnoses, test results and available treatments in terms that clients and their families can understand.
- Compassion when working with individuals frustrated by the difficulties they are experiencing.
- Critical thinking skills for adjusting treatment plans as required and identifying alternative ways to help.
- Attention to detail for maintaining notes on treatment and progress.
- Listening skills for listening to concerns and symptoms of students and parents so they can decide the most appropriate course of treatment.
Accountability
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The SLP agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Office of Catholic Schools, as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of St. Norbert School. The teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour
