This position will provide Safety to all company operations and will be expected to spend approximately 75% of their time in the field. This position will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to the safety of our employees and the traveling public in the State of Georgia.

Below are the duties that are priorities to the individual selected for the position:
- Provide HSE advice, assistance and support to Hourly Craft Employees, Operators, Drivers, Supervisors, Engineers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and Office Staff.
- Support and coach key operations and support personnel in appropriate HSE procedures and policies.
- Promote a behavior-based approach to HSE and provide an atmosphere that reduces risk associated with all work activities.
- Participate in incident and serious near miss investigations and participate with senior management in implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Risk Management in all matters affecting safety and loss control.
- Assists in Site Safety documentation preparation for site specifics, job tasks, task training.
- Stays current on all new and proposed federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
- Documents and conducts safety training sessions and site inspections to ensure that Company employees are following safety policies and procedures.
- Verify and document all identified hazards are corrected in a timely manner.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of safety policies and procedures and provides feedback and suggestions to senior management.
- Identify innovative ways to improve safety and production.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- General understanding of road construction including bridge, grading, and asphalt construction. Knowledge of Asphalt Plant operations would be preferred.
Requirements
- Must have on-the-job experience in safety training and safety management.
- Must have experience working with a team of safety personnel on different projects.
- High school diploma (minimum) with a strong preference for an advanced degree in Safety/Construction.
- Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and recordkeeping, have demonstrated injury management skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, from hourly employees to management.

Preferred Certifications
- RSO – Registered Safety Officer
- OSHA 500 Trainer and 501
Required Work Experience
- Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience working on construction projects managing safety.
