This is done by completing quantity take-offs and gathering proposals from subcontractors, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Job Summary:
The Estimator’s role at Holloway Construction, Inc. is to identify potential projects to bid on and estimate the cost of work on projects. This is done by completing quantity take-offs and gathering proposals from subcontractors, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. This recruitment is for an experienced Estimator only. This individual must understand the process of preparing estimates and communicate effectively in a fast-paced construction industry.
The candidate must have previous experience with estimating Civil/Underground projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Seek out potential project opportunities.
- Communicate with prospective and current clients.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates and take-offs by identifying labor, material, and time requirements.
- Maintain a subcontractors/suppliers/resources database.
- Works cohesively with the project management during the award/start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate, including materials and construction methods.
- Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work during different construction phases.
- Participate in project post-mortem reviews.
- Conduct/Assist with the preparation of close-out meetings and documents.
- Other duties as assigned related to the Estimator role.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong Computer aptitude. Must be proficient in Excel, Work, and Outlook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, quotes, purchase orders, etc.
- Extensive knowledge in City, County, and municipality requirements (i.e., Standard Plans and Specifications)

- Understands the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules.
- Strong negotiating skills
Required:
The candidate MUST have 5 years of verifiable estimating experience.
- Desired: Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
