The Purchasing and Inventory Manager provides an exciting blend of strategic and tactical responsibilities related to one of the company's primary objectives of enhancing customer value. Wes-Tech has a 10+ year history of 100% on-time delivery and this position is a key driver in sustaining this high level of performance. Working with the Project, Engineering and Manufacturing managers, you will strategically plan, forecast, and provide oversight to the execution of purchasing, inventory control, and shipping / receiving functions at Wes-Tech. This role focuses on the support of production scheduling by the timely acquisition of quality materials and products to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
This position requires a strong leader, who will to provide tactile direction, work directly with and provide oversight to the procurement, warehouse, and distribution functions and who desires supportive and collaborative experience as a member of the Senior Management Team at Wes-Tech. Drives leadership in all business interactions with the supplier community and ultimately sets the tone for continued customer satisfaction.
Specific Activities:
- Provide leadership and management of the Procurement, Warehousing, and Distribution functions. Establish the systems and processes that meet the needs of the business.
- Publish and maintain comprehensive purchasing policy & procedures SOPs offering individual/department guidelines and specific requirements of ISO 9001, etc., as well as the basic contractual requirements.
- Create templates and checklists to be used by the individual buyers to ensure legal and compliance with company policies.
- Establishes and conducts a compliance-training curriculum for buyers and purchasing personnel.
- Conduct negotiations with vendors to meet company’s needs and reviews significant contracts.
- Drive On-Time delivery metrics and ensure Supplier Quality performance metrics are maintained and execute corrective actions as necessary.
- Trains and develops best practices with in functional areas including shipping, receiving, purchasing and inventory control.
- Leads the physical inventory process on an annual basis
- Direct management of critical project shipments
- Coordinate Cost Reduction activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Four-year college degree, in a technical or business-related field.
- Six to ten years of purchasing or related materials management experience.
- One to three years of supervisory or management experience is required.
- Previous experience with trucking and logistics management.
- Proven track record of success utilizing MRP.
- Demonstrated success in inventory control management.
- Hands-on experience purchasing components for custom machine manufacturing/assembly.
- Broad knowledge of purchasing function concepts including supplier processes and practices.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills in English for report writing, presentations, and interactions with diverse groups of people inside/outside of the company.
- ISO9001:2015 exposure is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based office programs and ERP systems.
