PRN Nurse needed for every 1st and 3rd Monday of every month.
Center for Vascular Medicine Outpatient Nurses provides high-end critical nursing care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures. The CVM Vascular Labs perform innovative peripheral vascular care in an Outpatient procedural setting. Nurses play an instrumental role in the lab and recovery area, including administering moderate sedation, pre, and post-recovery. Nurses are part of an interdisciplinary team focused on safe patient care and quality patient outcomes. Nurses provide compassionate care to patients in need and the critical interventions needed during procedures.
General Summary of Position
Independently provides critical and skilled nursing care to patients in an Outpatient Peripheral Vascular Catheterization Lab setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Travel
Annapolis and Greenbelt offices. Assigned to either Greenbelt or Annapolis on Tuesdays
Days and locations of operations: Annapolis, MD Lab ( Mondays or Tuesdays) Greenbelt, MD Lab (Mondays orTuesdays)
Education/Training
Valid RN license in the State of Maryland.
Experience
Four years of RN experience.
Four years experience in PACU/OR
License/Certification/Registration
CPR certification is mandatory. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (must be complete within 30 days of hire).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to practice with /or without direct supervision in a team setting.
Demonstrated a high level of clinical competence. Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication. Basic math skills. Basic computer skills preferred—basic experience with IV insertion.

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands
1. Must be able to work in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, push/pull, and transfer of patient on stretchers while wearing an X-ray lead apron.
2. May be exposed to bio-hazards such as bodily fluids and X-ray radiation.
3. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to Annapolis and/or Greenbelt, Maryland.
4. Must possess the physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods to perform the position's essential functions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Pre and post-procedure. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.
2. Contributes to achieving established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Seeks opportunities to participate in developing and revising standards of practice to meet changing patient population requirements.
3. Ensures accurate documentation before, during, and after the procedure; furnishes and receives appropriate reports; and issues patient instructions. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete patient care documentation.
4. Initiates and completes the procedural forms for indications and complications associated with the procedure.
5. Monitor patients throughout the procedures. Provides skilled assessment of cardiac, blood pressure, and respiratory status.
6. Safely administers Conscious Sedation under Physician supervision
7. Monitors rhythms, records EKGs, and monitors pressure data, hemodynamic monitoring values, waveforms, and standardization of equipment. Performs or assists with life-saving techniques such as CPR and defibrillation if the situation presents itself.
8. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
10. Prepares final computerized report following each invasive procedure.
11. Prepares patient for procedures. Instruct patients in pre- and post-catheterization procedure care. Verifies that patient information and signed contract have been obtained and are available. Assesses patients and charts to ensure readiness for the scheduled procedures—Notifies physicians of abnormal findings.

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
