Position Summary
We are searching for an energetic social studies teacher to join our faculty. The Social Studies teacher’s responsibilities include teaching elements of history, geography, politics, economics, religion, and culture to pupils. You should keep abreast of current events and initiate spirited, respectful debates among students. You will also be required to prepare and grade various assignments and assessments. To be successful as a social studies teacher, you should demonstrate passion and commitment to your discipline. Outstanding candidates are able to multitask, source appropriate learning material, and also present their opinion to the class without making any student feel threatened for holding a different view. Social Studies teachers need to be culturally sensitive and create a classroom where everyone is respected.
Duties and skill include, but are not limited to:
· Plan and deliver a creative, effective, and developmentally appropriate educational program
· Create an environment that fosters a love of learning, meeting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student
· Establish and communicate learning goals to all students
· Analyze data and uses tools and results of assessments to inform instruction.
· Evaluate student progress
· Will work collaboratively with middle school team of teachers and partner with parents to communicate student successes and areas of growth
· Integrate use of technology to enhance student learning
· Ability to be flexible, work in a collaborative environment, and to be a positive team player
Requirements/Qualifications
· BA or higher degree
· Clear or Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential or working toward a clear Credential
· Two years teaching experience preferred
· Effective communication skills
· Planning and organizational skills
· Strong classroom management skills
· Competency in developing lesson plans in alignment with Common Core, state-standards, and technology
· Knowledge of and experience with differentiation and engagement
· Willingness to assist with co-curricular programs and/or activities
· Interested in engaging in the life and community of our parish school
· Experience with using iPads, Chromebooks, projectors, Zoom, Schoology, Renaissance Learning
