We are a two-man team running a small boutique consulting firm in Dallas, Texas. We specialize in land development and septic designs. We design commercial, residential, and a large majority of the RV parks in the area.
This is a full-time remote role for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager. We need a project manager who can coordinate project, communicate with clients, and serve as our all-around fill in the gap’s person. Since we are a very small team, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary wildly depending on what the needs of that day are. This job requires an outside of the box thinker that can problem solve and learn conceptual concepts. You need to have the ability to come to me with solutions, not problems. The most important tasks you will be doing quite consistently are as follows:
Conceptual Designs – Create conceptual layouts that are realistic from an Engineering perspective and that the county or city from which that project resides will approve of
Proposals – Use word template we’ve designed to create Engineering proposal for clients to review
Managing Projects – You will have your own projects that you manage from start to finish
Other typical responsibilities are as follows:
Communicate with clients on the progress of their project
Setting up base files (parcel lines, topographic information, flood plain, etc.) for new projects
Completing conceptual designs for new projects
If you want, Civil Engineering design, such as drainage & detention, septic, site planning, etc.
Cost estimates for residential, commercial, and RV park projects
Due diligence on projects
Anything else that could pop up as a need in the CE consulting field!
It is important to understand that I will be looking for someone who knows how to create a project from the ground up, not someone who can do calculations and draft a grading plan. You will not be given projects that have already been "figured out". You will need to be able to anticipate how to project will be Engineered based on local jurisdictional (city/county) codes & design regs and/or zoning, site specific conditions (existing grades & drainage patterns, structures), and client requirements. You should not only understand “how” to grade a road, but also understand why that road has a certain profile, why the ROW is the width that it is, why it’s located where it is, etc. I don't care about degrees, certifications, age, gender, qualifications, where you live (in/out of country), etc. I care most about the person that you are and that work you've done in the past. Since you will be communicating with clients and us on a non-stop daily basis, I want someone who is fluent in English and easy to understand, personable, and has the drive to learn and grow. We are all laid back here, we're not counting hours; I can guarantee it will be the easiest environment you'll ever have to work in, as long as you can do the job you are hired for. You don’t have to be an expert in everything I’ve brought up, but you must be extremely familiar with all of these concepts.
It is also important to note that there will be numerous opportunities to boost your salary. You will receive a percentage of every project you bring in and every design you do. You have the potential to make well over $100k every year through this.
Requirements:
4+ years of work experience in the Civil Engineering or a related field
Experience in conceptual designs for projects and the ability to find county/city requirements and designed based on them
Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and planning
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision in a remote environment
Strong skills in Autocad/Autocad Civil, Microsoft Word & Excel
Passion to learn, grow, optimize, and improve
I'm motivated to hire quick, so reach out to me anytime/anyday via phone or email and we can discuss the position.
