Exercise Specialist
Our Exercise Specialists assist patients in completing a routine exercise program under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. The Exercise Specialists help demonstrate the exercises to the patients and then assist the patients in completing a series of exercises that make up a comprehensive individual exercise program.
Job Duties and Requirements
- Instruct patients with their exercise program under the direction and guidance of the physical therapist
- Cleans, sanitizes, and prepares exam rooms, tables, and equipment in a timely and efficient manner
- Assists with the overall cleanliness of the entire clinic, including but not limited to, scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying trash receptacles, and contributing to the general tidiness of the clinic
- Appropriately schedules appointments to optimize patient satisfaction and maximize the overall schedule and each provider’s time
- Assists patients with filling out new patient paperwork and outcome measures
- Promptly collects patient copayments at the time of service
- Accurately addresses patient questions and redirects any questions that require further assistance to the appropriate person or department
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of exercise science
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology and current medical office practices and procedures
- Excellent customer service and patient care skills
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent communication skills
Education and Experience
- Experience working with patients in a healthcare or physical therapy setting preferred
- Education in the field of exercise science preferred
- Proficient experience with computers. Specifically with Microsoft Office (most notably with Word, and Excel) and Google Sheets
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Requires extensive standing and walking
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
- Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
