Job Summary:
We are seeking a Front Desk Medical Assistant to join our medical facility. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient service and administrative support in a medical environment.
Front Desk Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Register patients, verify insurance information, and collect co-pays
- Schedule appointments and procedures for inpatient and outpatient services
- Maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality
- Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries promptly and direct them to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with medical administrative tasks and medical terminology support
MA Responsibilities:
-You will be responsible for managing patients during exams, phlebotomy, and patient schedules.
-You are expected to handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a medical front desk role is preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and urgent care procedures
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations
- Proficiency in medical administrative tasks including patient registration and insurance verification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage patient records accurately
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
2. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy and review and edit reports and correspondence.
3. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
Skills:
1. Skill in operating office and medical equipment.
2. Skill in organizational matters including time management, prioritization, and multitasking.
3. Skill in writing and communicating effectively. Excellent customer service is a must!
4. Skill in problem-solving.
Abilities:
1. Ability to learn/use other computer programs including Microsoft® Excel, e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft® PowerPoint.
2. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
3. Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic or numeric systems.
4. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and other clinical staff, and the public.
6. Ability to competently use an EMR, as well as Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and eClinical Works.
7. Multi-lingual is preferred.
Equipment Operated:
1. Medical equipment for MA: EKG, Blood Pressure monitor, Pulse Oximeter, etc.
2. Office machinery including computers, fax, dictating machine, calculator, and photocopier.
Work Environment: Medical office, well lighted, well ventilated. Work may be stressful due to a busy office. Involves frequent contact with staff and patients. Must have acceptance and tolerance for LGBTQ community as this is our main patient base.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Front Office Coordinator/Medical Assistant such as manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, or sitting for extended periods of time. Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines. Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
