The LeFrak Center at Lakeside is Brooklyn’s activity destination featuring year-round activities including ice skating, roller skating, bumper cars, dining, water play, biking, boating, family-friendly classes and special events.
Opened to the public in 2014, Lakeside is a 26-acre multi-purpose indoor and outdoor recreational facility located within Prospect Park, Brooklyn. This first-class family entertainment facility is comprised of 35,000 square feet of interior space and offices, two ice skating rinks which convert to a splash pad area and roller skating arena, biking and boating activities, indoor/outdoor full service food and beverage areas, bars and catering facilities, and dedicated event spaces and party rooms - that have the capacity to host multi sports tournaments, clinics, special events, banquets, meetings, weddings, concerts, community events and other family friendly activities.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Guest Services and Special Events Manager to join the company. The Guest Services and Special Events Manager serves as the initial point of contact to our diverse set of clients and partners and will be responsible for all aspects of the planning, organization, execution, and on-site management of birthday parties, corporate parties, group reservations, rink rentals, and other hospitality events. Attention to detail, communication, organizational skills in a fast-paced environment, a knack for working with teams, ability to multitask, and an energetic attitude are all essential qualities to possess. We’re looking for someone who is excited by a fast-paced environment and who engages with assertiveness.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for guest information
- Address and document guest concerns in the database
- Achieve amicable resolution to guest concerns
- Coordinate with other departments to address guest concerns
- Update guest records
- Problem-solve to achieve guest resolution
- Complete product knowledge training to answer guest questions
- Promote our amenities and activities
- Develop, maintain, and grow membership/customer database
- Monitor, update, and analyze sales data of the online ticketing and reservation software systems
- Work with marketing team to strategize sales outreach through social media and other digital channels
- Revise department documents such as inquiry forms, reservation/program policies and other guest correspondence templates
- Manage and respond to incoming event inquiries at Lakeside
- 360-degree event coverage: field inquiry, lead venue tours, close event, negotiate and create contracts, manage calendar, relay event information to on-site staff, and execute event on-site as needed/requested, post-event followup with client
- Work in tandem with executive management to achieve sales forecasts
- Attend event planner networking events and other industry gatherings
- Maintain and develop a database of contacts
- Develop new relationships with outside vendors and event planners
- Assist with managing on-site production and clean-up for events as necessary
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years of experience coordinating special events within food and beverage industry
- Great interpersonal skills, customer service oriented, professional, attentive, and cheerful
- Responsive and proactive follow-through and follow-up
- Financially minded: understand and control event costs
- Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions
- Capable of diffusing potentially volatile situations with customers under high-stress environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong relationship skills with ability to influence without direct authority
- Exceptional consultative phone and face-to-face selling skills, including the ability to clearly articulate, inspire, project confidence, influence, overcome objections, and remain resilient but positive and polite
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work on weekends and nights as needed with primary schedule being Sunday to Thursday
