GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Come and be a part of innovative orthopedic surgery center in west Atlanta that focuses on total joints and other orthopedic procedures. We are seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team. As a CRNA, you will play a crucial role in providing anesthesia services in a dynamic healthcare environment. CRNA will be responsible for supporting the team by providing anesthesia services for general and MAC surgery cases at the surgery center. This is for a full time(Mon-Fri) SALARIED position. Applicants should be flexible and able to deal with the constantly changing and fast paced environment of a surgery center which includes occasional high pressure or emergent situations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Pre-op
- Assess patients prior to surgery to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Measure and record pre-op vital signs as needed
- Review the patient chart to become familiar with orders
- Explain procedures/treatment/discharge to patient and family members to alley apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure/discharge
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and in order
- Presurgical nerve blocks
- Maintenance of airway and pain management of patients
Intra-Op/Perioperative
- Escort patients to and from operating room, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning
- Continually assess the surgical process, coordinates activities in OR suite and anticipates needs of surgical team and patient throughout surgical environment.
- Provide anesthesia services during surgical cases including patient intubation.
- Collaborate with staff to perform interventions to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, and side (“Time out”).
- Support operating room staff through vital sign monitoring and medication administration.
- Review all patient records to understand the medical history prior to the surgical case.
- Check all documents and consents to ensure they are compliant.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Utilize your expertise in pain management to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
Post-op
- Collaborate with perioperative team, anesthesiologist and surgeon for continuum of patient care and discharge
- Critical thinking and attention to detail are required to provide the highest level of quality and continued care for patient’s safe recovery.
- Routinely uses acquired knowledge, theory, research and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations.
- Ensure that the patient is stable in PACU, and remain immediately available for assistance until the patient has met discharge criteria.
- Consistently communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Utilizes resources in a responsible manner with a focus on cost containment.
- Respond to life saving situations based upon standards, policies, procedures and protocols
General
- Record accurate documentation using the electronic medical records software (EMR).
- Act as patient advocate throughout perioperative stay.
- Involves frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current active Georgia CRNA license
- of one (1) year experience preferred
- Fluently bilingual in another language strongly preferred
- Strong IV skills preferred (Required for pre-op)
- Current Basic Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- All employees must be able to provide proof of identity and their right to work in the US.
- Staff should be capable of lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed
