Position Summary
As a Loss Prevention Associate at Costello's Ace Hardware, the primary responsibility is to safeguard the store's assets and maintain a secure retail environment. The role encompasses a wide range of duties, from surveillance and monitoring to emergency response. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, observant, and excels in communication. Major Responsibilities:
1. Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Utilize surveillance systems to monitor store premises and identify suspicious activities.
- Maintain video records for both accidents/incidents and theft incidents.
- Keep an eye on customers, vendors, and employees to prevent theft and fraud.
- Pull video footage for thefts, accidents and injuries.
2. Theft Prevention:
- Implement security measures to deter theft and shoplifting.
- Provide customer service to deter potential thieves and maintain a visible presence in the store.
3. Inventory Control:
- Conduct regular inventory checks to identify discrepancies and investigate the root cause.
- Collaborate with inventory management to reconcile inventory records and prevent shrinkage.
- Conduct loss prevention audits regularly.
4. Gross Margin Protection:
- Conduct daily review of gross margin report for accurate costs.
- Utilize gross margin reporting to identify possible dishonest behavior.
5. Training and Awareness:
- Educate store employees about theft prevention techniques and best practices.
- Conduct training sessions on identifying suspicious behavior and handling theft situations.
6. Audits and Inspections:
- Perform regular internal audits to assess compliance with security protocols.
- Conduct surprise inspections to ensure employees follow established security procedures.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
- Document all incidents of injury, theft, fraud, or suspicious activities.
- Prepare detailed incident reports including descriptions, actions taken, and outcomes.
- Report incidents to management and law enforcement authorities as necessary.
8. Collaboration:
- Work closely with store management, employees, and local law enforcement agencies.
- Collaborate with other Loss Prevention Associates and departments in other organizations to share best practices and improve security measures.
9. Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to enhance the shopping experience.
- Assist customers with their inquiries and resolve security-related concerns professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
10. Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as fire alarms or security breaches.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure the safety of customers and employees during emergencies.
11. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in loss prevention and security.
- Propose and implement improvements in security systems and procedures to enhance effectiveness.
12. Legal Compliance:
- Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations related to loss prevention.
- Ensure all loss prevention activities comply with legal requirements and ethical standards.
