Summary:
The Team Ldr RCP Critical Care is responsible for providing expert direct patient care, directly supporting and developing respiratory care practitioners (RCPs) and externs assigned to them.Critical care settings are defined as intensive care units and/or the emergency department.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership Responsibilities:
- 1. Evaluate employee performance against existing department standards including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, etc..
- 2. Assure that direct reports adhere to the standards of performance
- 3. Train, coach, and monitor direct reports to understand and apply Patient and Family Centered Care principles and practices in daily operations
- 4. Monitor and assure direct reports are adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures related to clinical care, safety and quality, operations, financial stewardship and personnel activities
- 5. Support hospital and department initiatives and hold direct reports accountable to changes
- 6. Participate in the selection, training, and skill development of direct reports
- 7. Actively support and participate in respiratory care shared governance committees or hospital committees as assigned
Other information:
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years previous pediatric or neonatal respiratory care experience in an acute care hospital setting. Req
EDUCATION
- Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Req
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Pref
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Texas license for Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) recognized by Texas Medical Board Upon Hire Req
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Req
- NRP (Plano and NICU Team leaders) Upon Hire Req
- Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must completed within 90 days of hire and be renewed annually (Plano location only) 90 Days Req
- RRT-NPS recognized by the NBRC within 6 months of hire (within Population Health, this certification can be obtained within 1 year of date of hire) (preferred for CT OR)
- PALS 180 Days Req
- BLS instructor for NICU, Cardiac, Legacy and Acute Care team leaders 1 Year Pref
- Certification as an Asthma Educator for Acute Care, PICU, Legacy and ED team leaders 1 Year Pref
