Gawthrop Greenwood, PC is a mid-sized law firm based in West Chester, PA with offices in Berwyn, West Chester and Wilmington. We are known for our firm’s engagement with our community and constantly innovate our workflows to ensure our attorneys and staff are serving our clients’ needs while achieving sustainable work/life balances. We have an opening, in early Summer 2024, for a mid-to senior level attorney with 5+ years of experience serving clients with Family Law needs.
Responsibilities & Tasks You Should Expect to Perform
As a Family Law Attorney at Gawthrop, you should expect to perform the following responsibilities and tasks independently:
· Conduct client consultations via phone and in person, then draft/send engagement letters, and onboard new clients;
· Provide representation for clients in family law matters (i.e. divorce, equitable distribution, support, custody, Protection from Abuse actions, adoptions, etc.);
· Attend and maintain a steady schedule of hearings, court appearances and conferences;
· Represent clients during trials and other court proceedings;
· Draft necessary legal documents (i.e. pleadings, settlement agreements, proposed orders, etc.);
· Update clients regularly on their case status; and
· Prepare clients’ cases to include discovery needs as well as coordinating cases with court personnel, witnesses and experts.
· J.D. and bar admission in Pennsylvania (New Jersey or Delaware, a plus)
· 7 years’ of legal practice focused on serving clients with Family Law needs
· Excellent initiative
· Experience in marketing legal practice and originating new clients
· Ability to work both independently and on a team
· Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task
· Proficient with Microsoft Office products
