Bachelor’s degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; Master’s degree preferred; operation and administration of SQL server five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible related experience, with two (2) years in a supervisory position; local government experience preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of current developments, equipment, technology, and methods of administering a broad program of information;

Advanced knowledge of administrative principles and practices including goal setting, program planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and personnel management, including supervision and training;

Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of budget development and administration in a public agency;

Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations;

Ability to select, motivate, evaluate staff and provide for their training and professional development;

Supervisory Controls:
The work is performed under the direct supervision of the City Manager

Guidelines: Guidelines include the
City personnel handbook and City codes and ordinances.
Complexity: Work requires analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties. Work requires the exercise of independent thinking within the limits of guidelines, policies, standards, and precedents.
Scope and Effect: The purpose of this position is to coordinate and articulate strategic direction of City information systems and services. Successful implementation ensures the effective use of the latest technology throughout the City.
Personal Contacts: Contacts are typically with co-workers, elected officials, vendors, City employees, other local government officials, and the general public.
Purpose of Contacts: Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
Physical Demands: Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment, with the employee typically sitting at a desk.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility: The IT Director supervises the IT staff.
