Job Title: R&D Lab Technician

Schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm (Mon – Fri)
Reports to: R&D Chemist

Position Summary:
The R&D Lab Technician will support the R&D Chemist to maintain a clean and orderly lab environment, to perform and document testing/formulation tasks as assigned by the R&D Chemist and to prepare required reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with other departments to gather information and communicate process status as required. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience working in a chemistry lab and can consistently demonstrate the characteristics and requirements listed in this job profile.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Safety
§ Ensure that safety is primary in all facets of your daily work.
§ Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements
Processes
§ Perform routine and non-routine testing services using established procedures (ASTM and AATCC standard methods for testing)
§ Create lab samples from formulas
§ Perform data entry of routine and non-routine testing
§ Review, follow and perform job functions in compliance with established work instructions and adherence with SOPs, including recording traceable information on device history records
§ Propose and update operating procedures and ensure that specifications are following GMP, Environment and Safety regulations
§ Participate in the creation and review of SOPs and Work Instructions for lab tasks.
§ Initiate and support laboratory investigations and propose recommendations
§ Prepare data summaries, reports, and protocols using existing templates as a model as well as review and approve basic laboratory data
§ Organize and clean the lab, lab equipment and tools
Education / Qualifications / Knowledge:
Education
§ Associate degree or equivalent in related science field required
§ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry preferred.
Experience
§ 2-3 years working in a chemistry laboratory required
§ Experience working in chemical manufacturing environment a plus.
Knowledge / Skills
§ Working knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Technical Data Sheet (TDS) content.
§ Substantial knowledge of laboratory processes
§ Consistent attention to detail
§ Able to read, comprehend, write and speak English fluently.
§ Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
§ Strong math skills, including decimals and percentages.
§ Proficient computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office/Outlook.
§ Strong critical thinking skills and ability to research, summarize and effectively present data.
§ Excellent written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal/relationship-building skills
§ Able to provide direct feedback in a professional, concise and tactful manner
§ Working knowledge and experience with ERP software and MS Office software.
§ Strong organizational skills.
§ Ability to write technical documents
§ Substantial knowledge in ISO (International Organization for Standardization) regulations
Physical Requirements:
§ Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
§ Ability to walk/stand frequently in a lab facility.
§ Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
