JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for assisting the manager of the Mobile Hygiene Unit during daily operations and with all associated activities, including all events, programs, and community partnerships. This position reports directly to the Mobile Hygiene Manager and serves as a public representative for Clean the World Foundation in the greater Tulare, California community.
JOB DESCRIPTION—duties, responsibilities, accountabilities:
- Assist MHU Manager with daily operations of the Mobile Hygiene Unit
- Maintain safe setup and breakdown activities in accordance with the MHU Manager’s direction.
- Clean and prepare the bathroom and shower areas in between client usage.
- Positively represent Clean the World Foundation during all MHU operations by interacting in a respectful manner to all clients and/ or community members.
- Be able to assist with challenging client situations in a calm and respectful manner.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES
- The ability to work with a diverse unhoused community.
- The ability to communicate well with individuals of different backgrounds, education levels, and potential mental health conditions.
- Possess empathy for others.
- Awareness of how to safely clean areas of potential biohazard waste.
- Work outside in the changing California climate, year round
- Exposure to a variety of external environments and conditions.
- Be computer literate—MicroSoft Outlook, MicroSoft Teams, email, etc.
- Must have reliable transportation to/from the worksite.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Experience with charity work in the unhoused sector preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with janitorial duties and safe handling of cleaning supplies.
- Displays patience and consideration for clients seeking our services. A portion of this role is "Front Facing" so you play an ambassador role to representing Clean the World Global and our mission of making the world a better place.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Light Custodial work including lifting wet towels and cleaning shower restroom facilities
- Must be able to life 25lbs on a consistent basis. May be asked to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and carry as well as perform physical activity such as cleaning, climbing ladders and standing on elevated platforms.
Typical Weekly Work Schedule—will vary based upon need. Work is assigned on “service” days and you must have full availability to work scheduled service days:
Mon and Thurs - up to 7 hours each. 10a- 5p
Tues - up to 6 hours. 8:30a - 2:30p
Wed and Fri. up to 4 hours each. 9a - 1p
