Role Overview
We are looking for a team member who will be required to perform duties necessary for the accurate calculation of wages, maintenance of records and distribution of payroll reports. Acts as a resource and provides leadership to Payroll team members. Must be comfortable operating in a fast - paced and high - volume environment.
Duties:
- Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration with assigned clients, rending in payroll knowledge, to deliver training on payroll processes and ensure sustained compliance.
- Manage and process new hires, promotions, terminations, garnishments, wage assignments, etc.
- Assists with timesheet reviews and ensures submissions in timely manner. Maintains timesheet late submission/errors and works with departments to address issues.
- Understanding of internal controls over initiation, authorization, processing, recording and reporting of payroll transactions.
- Maintains payroll operations by exporting and importing payroll data, review and ensure accuracy prior to submission.
- Reconciles payroll transmissions and validates confirmed reports.
- Maintains errors tracking log.
- Ability to process and manipulate large spreadsheets of data, including exporting and importing data from payroll system and putting them into reports other departments can utilize.
- Prepares periodical payroll-related analysis, summarizes outcomes, makes and helps implement recommendations.
- Creates custom reports upon management requests.
- Assists in troubleshooting system related issues and determining appropriate corrective action.
- Conducts regular audits on payroll procedures and records.
- Responds verbally or in writing to inquiries, complaints or problems and makes necessary adjustments of a non-routine nature.
- Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations; assists coordinate approved changes within payroll processing system; updates affected policy/procedure manuals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Five years of payroll processing experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Prior supervisor experience preferred.
- Experience in high volume payroll processing (3,000+employees).
- Prior experience with HR/Payroll ERP, time-tracking systems required (general ledger system experience preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel including VLOOK, PIVOT TABLES, SUMIF functions.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State HR/Payroll Laws (FMLA, FLSA, e.g.) and IRS regulations that impact payroll.
- Excellent processing skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
