Overview:
We are seeking an Associate Attorney who has a passion for criminal defense to help take our growing law firm to the next level. We are not your typical law firm. We are poised for aggressive growth, and we’re looking for an attorney who can hit the ground running to give our clients outstanding representation. You need to have strong analytical and communication skills and know your way around a courtroom.
The Job
- Take ownership of a client's case in state court criminal cases
- Conduct client meetings and recommend strategies
- Delegate work to paralegals and legal assistants and monitor their work
- Felony and misdemeanor criminal cases: discovery, pleadings, and motions; pretrial hearings, motion hearings, and criminal trials.
The Essentials
- Skills and experience are important and valued, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are also extremely important considerations. We need an attorney who already has litigation experience, but experience and attitude are just as important.
- High-maintenance, humorless, self-entitled, or self-important individuals will not succeed in this position and need not apply.
- If you think the Constitution is a technicality, please don’t apply.
- If you think filling out a plea form is the best thing you can do for a client, do not apply.
- If we can’t count on you to show up in court on time, don’t apply.
- We are growing, and you will be called upon to wear many hats. We need someone who does not think that the occasional need to scan your own documents is “beneath you."
Qualifications
· Strong legal research skills using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
· Excellent writing and legal drafting abilities
· Experience in litigation and negotiation
· Proficient in communication and analysis skills
· Previous legal administrative experience is a plus
