JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of the ready mix concrete business. Dispatcher processes and coordinates the phone sales and distribution of company products including concrete and aggregates for multiple plants. Must have an understanding of concrete products, concrete dispatching software systems and product suitability for customer's intended use. Also responsible for staffing personnel based on customer orders. Dispatch must be aware of special jobsite conditions that require specific trucks, spacing, slump requirements, etc. Dispatcher must be able to assist lost drivers in finding jobsites and determine travel times to jobs. Dispatcher must be customer service minded, be able to keep a level head under stressful conditions and work long hours when required. This position requires day to day interaction with other employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge of construction materials and processes; weights and measures laws and regulations; trucks and transportation requirements and regulations; local area and distances for pricing and delivery. Must provide excellent customer service by phone and in person; scheduling and organizing large numbers of people and equipment efficiently and quickly; reading maps; using computers; making basic mathematical computations; prepare and use reports and forms. Must be able to act quickly and creatively to solve problems; communicate effectively with customers as well as truck drivers; work independently and make decisions; memorize and recall detailed information; handle multiple tasks concurrently; and perform under pressure. Utilize GPS tracking software and enter orders into dispatch scheduling software-ability to quickly learn different software programs. Must have quality as a core value and work well as a team player.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in Dispatch for Concrete or Transportation Industry;
*Minimum of 3 years job related experience and training;
*Experience with ISO 9001 or Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA)-1 quality programs desired
*Nuclear project experience a plus
*Previous administrative and sales experience preferred;
*Must possess excellent verbal skills including skills in handling conflict;
*Certification ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician-Grade 1
