Job Summary: The Biomedical Equipment Technician - Imaging Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex imaging equipment used in medical diagnostics and treatment. The role requires in-depth knowledge of imaging technologies, outstanding problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair of imaging equipment, including MRI, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound machines.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with imaging equipment, employing advanced technical skills.
- Ensure all imaging equipment meets industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control measures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed service records for all equipment.
- Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and technical support teams for equipment updates, recalls, and technical guidance.
- Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new imaging equipment.
- Manage projects related to the installation, upgrade, and decommissioning of imaging equipment.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to imaging equipment maintenance and safety.
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or DoD BMET School Graduate, Active AAMI ACI credential. Specialized training in imaging equipment is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the maintenance and repair of medical imaging equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of imaging technologies, electronic principles, and computer systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and specialized biomedical equipment software.
Certifications: (if applicable)
- Certification from the International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology (ICC) in imaging equipment or a related field is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment.
- Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Work Environment: The work environment may involve exposure to hazardous materials and radiation, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
