SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, provide basic resident care. This is accomplished in accord with the Vincentian Mission and Values of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church, Federal and State Laws and within the Quality of Care and Service, Safety and Disaster Plans of Laboure Residence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must understand and support the mission of the Daughters of Charity and Vincentian Values as stated in the Seton Employee Handbook
· Must possess personal qualities of integrity, respect for others, good judgment, and good communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 + years of professional or personal experience in supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviors
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
· Complete and maintain an annual basic first aid certification
· Complete 48 hours of in-service training every two years
- Maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance; conform to dress code
- Deal tactfully and professionally with residents, visitors, families, the general public, and other staff members
- Demonstrate adequate English language skills in communicating and understanding spoken and written directions
essential duties:
- Assist professional nursing staff by performing duties of caring for the residents at Laboure Residence
- Make beds and feed residents, serve drinks and nourishment, care for incontinent residents
- Provide for safety, comfort, and the wellbeing of the residents
- Routinely turn and position residents
- Keep assigned residents bedside area clean and personal belongings in orderly arrangement
- Ambulate and transfer resident utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body Mechanics
- Receive and follow instructions from Director of Nursing and assist with activities of daily living including dressing, bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Assist in assessing residents conditions and communicating changes to the charge nurse
- Assist in serving at mealtimes and assisting as needed, escorting Sisters to the chapel, and enabling the Sisters to be as involved as desired in activities that are in line with their interests.
Ensure resident privacy, respect, and dignity
- Observe resident’s rights; maintain confidentiality of facility and residents care information
- Execute duties and responsibilities in conformity with established routines, policies and procedures
- Ensure physical safety, comfort and well-being of residents
- Observe and report symptoms, reactions and changes of residents
- Report unsafe conditions and safety suggestions in writing to supervisor
- Attend and participate in facility in-service educational programs
- Make sure that assignment areas are neat, clean, and free from hazards and that all supplies are properly stored and replenished before leaving on breaks or at the end of shift
- Answer all residents calls promptly
- Ensure that the call light system or bell is within residents reach
- Report all accidents and unusual occurrences to supervisor immediately
- Be aware of and practice proper infection control techniques
· Work is performed primarily in a convalescent/retirement facility
- Perform other closely related duties as assigned

Pay: $21.68 - $22.22 per hour
