The Career Planner is responsible to coordinate, develop, create and implement primarily employment opportunities using Person Centered Planning methods and techniques. This role will do job development seeking group and individual employment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Build relationships with families, employers and regulatory entities to served and provide the required supports.
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory health and safety standards.
- Remain current of labor market information for employment opportunities.
- Conduct community relation visits to employers, associations, unions, etc. to promote employment and partnership possibilities.
- Refers individuals to prospective employer and accompanies them to interview.
- Carries a caseload and complete required documentation and database entries.
- Ensures all employment opportunities meet Department of Labor regulations.
- Maintain and secure consumer records with all required information.
- Provide travel, training, and job coaching as needed.
- Provide training to maximize individual independence.
Requirements:
- Requires High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A valid NYS Driver’s License, and a reliable car.
- One (1) year experience with IDD population.
- Must be flexible, reliable, and take initiative.
- Ability to work effectively with employers, families, interdepartmental staff, other community, and corporate contacts.
