Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified PLC Controls Engineer to join our team. The PLC Controls Engineer will provide direct support on the automated production line to resolve electrical and programming issues discovered during electrical checkouts.
Responsibilities:
· Undertake root cause analyses and institute corrective and preventive actions to rectify quality issues and enhance overall production efficacy.
- Investigate and resolve electrical and programming issues encountered on the production line during electrical checkout.
- Create and release programming updates and other engineering solutions as needed.
- Execute in-plant testing of electrical and programming solutions as required by colleagues.
- Support supplier application approvals, vendor tests, config audits, and other online activities as needed.
- Provide general status of online builds and identify and address potential roadblocks preventing deliveries.
· Deliver training and assistance to production personnel on equipment maintenance methodologies and protocols.
· Ensure operational efficiency by monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and instituting measures to refine manufacturing processes.
- Support ongoing process improvement initiatives.
- Equipment Configuration: verify that all equipment/PLC/displays are configured correctly according to the design specifications.
- Verify that the functions of each system work correctly (basic functions; equipment and instrumentation; cable continuity; loop; control system; safety system; interlock; earthing; documentation, etc.)
- In accordance with the Production Manager, provide support to suppliers and resources during the installation, commissioning, testing, and management of non-compliance phases.
- Support the Production Manager in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
· Oversee statistical data relevant to process equipment.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Electrical/Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of equivalent related industry experience, especially in automotive manufacturing.
- Knowledge of high-voltage systems (hi-pot test, weld resistance test).
- Knowledge of optical, inductive, and laser sensor systems, electric, asynchronous, stepper, and brushless motors.
- Familiar with mechanical design theory (GD&T, positioning, guidance, transmission).
- Proficiency in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct failure analysis investigation. Be familiar with various evaluation methods - such as automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.
- Proficient with 3D CAD software.
- Understand product prints. Communicate with customers and vendors regarding product features, and tolerances, and establish acceptable criteria.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications (e.g., MS Office, statistical analysis software).
