Referral Coordinator
SUMMARY
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and registration of clinic appointments, providing a positive first impression of Kings Eye Center and being knowledgeable in complex scheduling scenarios and insurance plans. This includes answering calls quickly, entering demographic information, scheduling, providing appointment instructions to patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtain and enter accurate patient demographics, including insurance information into EHR
- Schedule and reschedule of clinic appointments accurately as needed
- Complete patient registration via phone at the time of scheduling
- Maintain referral for consultation requests and contact patients back in a timely manner to schedule the requested appointments
- Obtain insurances authorizations as required for referral
- Monitor 2nd and 3rd call referral contacts
- Update and maintain referral spreadsheet for MD and OD referrals
- Submit a weekly report of referrals scheduled to Practice Administrator
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school education with one-two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience with a high focus on customer service, insurance plans, and medical background. Ophthalmology experience a plus.
