Summary
Custodians are responsible for general cleaning of building interior and maintenance of school grounds.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Sweep; scrub; mop; buff; wax floors and equipment.
- Wash interior windows, walls, marble, and blackboards.
- Clean lavatories, lockers, drinking fountains.
- Dust; empty waste baskets and pencil sharpeners.
- Maintain supplies in lavatories and change burned out light bulbs.
- Shovel snow and remove ice from sidewalks.
- Receive and distribute supplies to proper departments within building.
- See that doors are locked and lights are out.
- Pick up paper on grounds and sweep sidewalks.
- Move equipment.
- In charge of night activities if assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the materials, equipment and methods commonly used in cleaning operations.
- Ability to perform physical labor required for cleaning duties involving relatively long hours while standing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge in and ability to use equipment used in cleaning operations.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff and the public.
- Must meet the State standards for a clear criminal history and provide mandated fingerprint clearance
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, reach, lift and carry items. Lifting and carrying requirements includes materials over 25 pounds. Other physical demands include climbing ladders, setting up/tearing down large quantities of chairs, tables, and rises. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Schedule
Full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12-months per year
Standard Afternoon shift hours are from 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
Pay Range
Minimum starting pay $15.08 per hour
In accordance with the GPPA union contract, starting pay may depend on experience.
Additionally, the district offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible employees.
