Location: Long Island City, NY 11101
Days/Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and the ongoing development of a superior workforce. The Human Resources Generalist will work with the Human Resources Team in supporting and delivering all Human Resources services including recruitment, learning & development, and employee relations. They will work closely with the Senior Director of HR to create a definitive plan of action to create an effective and open pathway of communication to more effectively and efficiently relay and process information between departments.
The HR Generalist also supports the implementation and delivery of all human resources programs including HRIS, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and completing personnel transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate and timely records in HRIS system and physical employee files. Produce reports for all aspects of staffing including audits as needed. These may include funders, state regulatory agencies, finance department or other departments as needed;

Prepare employee separation documentation, calculate any unused Vacation pay when applicable relay to payroll schedule and conduct exit interviews and terminate in all applicable vendors;

Review and enter all approved employee actions into Fortune’s HRIS including but not limited to salary adjustments, merit reviews, new hires, health benefits, time off accruals, retirement, demographic information, beneficiaries, dependents, etc.;

Work closely with the Payroll Administrator to resolve any payroll issues;

Schedule and conduct new hire orientations; designed to introduce new employees to the scope of Fortune services and benefits;

Work with Benefits Director in the processing and filing of Worker’s comp, STD, LTD claims and other leaves;

Manage audit process for all external and internal audits;

Represent the organization at and participate in meetings and/ or events as directed;

Support organization by completing additional tasks identified by senior executives and senior management;

Work with hiring managers, resource staff and HR team for seamless onboarding of new staff; and

Assist the Senior Director of Human Resources in special projects and other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, PHR or SHRM preferred;

3-5 years relevant human resources experience, not-for-profit setting preferred;

Knowledge of human resources functions; benefits administration, employee relations, and HRIS;

Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and strong analytical skills;

Ability to effectively interact with employees from Sr. Management to frontline;

Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion;

Must be able to multi task with strong organizational skills;

PC proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any HRIS are required;

Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form;

A high energy level, initiative and a stickler for details are necessary;

Travel Requirements – Will require travel to our Harlem & Bronx sites.
