Medical Office Assistant
(Redondo Beach & Torrance)
We are looking for an outgoing, personable individual to warmly welcome & assist our patients. Applicant must function at a high capacity in fast-paced environments, be able to prioritize tasks, and have great communication skills as well as be experienced in general front-office patient care and customer service. Must be a self-starter who gives their best in whatever they do. Looking for someone who will take responsibility for their work and carry everything they do through to completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcome and greet all patients over the phone
- Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette
- Schedule patient appointments for new and existing patients, verify insurance coverage & benefits and obtain authorizations
- Update patient demographics by collecting detailed information including personal and financial information & input into medical records system. Scan documents and upload to patient charts.
- Collect patient payments, deposits & credit cards for processing and posting to appropriate patient account
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patient delays for appointments and communicating with patients and clinical staff
- Responds to inquiries by patients & prospective patients in a courteous manner
- Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proper phone etiquette required
- Professional demeanor and appearance required
- Previous experience in the medical field required
- Excellent computer skills; must be willing to learn PC competencies as required for the position
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required in dealing with patients, co-workers, and public
- Ability to multi-task and be an active listener
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Customer service oriented, responding promptly to patient's needs
- Ability to read and understand instructions and react favorably in all work situations
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, identifying alternative solutions, and gather and analyze information in a skillful manner
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looking for ways to promote quality and efficiency, while monitoring own work for accuracy
- Ability to handle frequent changes and interruptions, working well under pressure
- Proven work experience in customer service a plus
- Reliable transportation required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
