Qualifications:
· B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science.
· 7+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing and processing, including extrusion, thermoforming, and tooling.
· Proficient knowledge of resins, additives, coatings, and laminates.
· Proven track record in leading capital projects within a manufacturing environment.
· Strong problem-solving skills and technical capabilities.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to work independently with a high level of personal initiative and ownership.
· An inquisitive mindset with awareness of new and developing technologies.
· Results-driven with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
· Highly organized with a hands-on work ethic.
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment with proven results in leading capital projects and collaborating with OEMs and suppliers.
· Experience in consumer-based food packaging (7 years required).
· Willingness to relocate to Hartsville, SC before starting work.
Responsibilities:
· Identify sustainable packaging solutions by leveraging technical knowledge of polymer technologies to manage and execute crucial projects from concept to commercialization.
· Expert in plastics extrusion, thermoforming, and material handling with a deep understanding of the thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties of thermoplastics.
· Identify growth opportunities and drive projects to enhance productivity, capacity, and efficiency across manufacturing facilities.
· Serve as the subject matter expert in the processing of plastic materials for consumer packaging.
· Provide recommendations on manufacturing equipment to support both current and future business needs.
· Address packaging opportunities and customer requirements in a manufacturing setting.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to solve complex problems and enhance product performance for our Award-Winning Client's customers.
· Develop innovative ideas to support the R&D product innovation and technology strategy.
· Foster a motivating environment within the R&D organization to achieve desired results.
· Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed to protect employees.
· Up to 30% travel, primarily domestic.
