Job Title: Software Safety Engineer
Location: Huntsville, AL- Redstone Arsenal
Position Type: Full-Time
Travel Requirements: Less than 10% of the time
Position Summary: The candidate will provide Software and System Safety Engineering guidance and support to a US Army government project office (PO), ensuring adherence to applicable service and agency safety policies, criteria, and standards to support fielding to US Army locations. The candidate will provide software and system safety expertise to establish software design criteria and software safety requirements as well as perform independent safety analyses, studies, and design evaluations of software systems, subsystems, and equipment. The candidate will evaluate contractor’s safety engineering program plans to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for establishing software safety test requirements, plans, and programs within the software development lifecycle. The candidate will be responsible for development, execution, and management of internal software safety procedures and program plans. The candidate will travel to both laboratory and operational test sites to assess system safety and eliminate existing hazards.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with air and missile defense systems.
- Experience with application of system safety policies within programs using agile software development and/or Model Based System Engineering.
- Candidate should excel in communications techniques to effectively lead safety efforts.
- Candidate should possess experience demonstrating timely identification of hazards and initiation of actions necessary to eliminate or reduce the risk level.
- Candidate should have experience developing, assessing, or managing a systems safety program for a DoD weapon system hardware or software.
- Candidate must be experienced with Microsoft Office products.
- Candidate must be able to think independently and be self-motivated, with proven organizational skills, ability to multi-task and support varied.
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree.
- Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance.
