General:
- The maintenance worker will do his/her best to help give our buyers the very best product that can be produced from the raw product received by making sure all equipment and facilities are kept in an optimal condition to meet production and quality standards.
- Maintenance worker will have a respectful & professional demeanor all times towards co-workers, farmers, contractors, truck drivers and any other persons on the job site.
- To maintain adequate food defense policies. The Maintenance worker will politely question any person on the site that may appear to be engaging in suspicious activity, be unknown, be unannounced or otherwise accessing facility without proper authorization or credentials.
- Maintenance workers will have one, 30 minute lunch break during the work day.
- Overtime and shift changes may be required, not voluntary, at certain times throughout the year.
- Maintenance worker will have strong mechanical abilities, strong reading comprehension abilities and must possess good math skills and know how to weld, fabricate, operate a man lift and telehandler, operate fork lift, repair equipment using hand tools and power tools, use band saw & drill press, climb, read tape measure, perform aerial work and stand for long periods of time.
- Environment - Maintenance workers will work both inside and outside. Must be able to work in all weather conditions to keep facility operation on a 24 hour and year round basis.
- Maintenance workers are hourly positions and will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and indirectly to General Manager and Processing Manager.
Specific Job Functions:
Monitor and maintain all equipment & rolling stock by:
- Performing routine & preventative maintenance as prescribed by the equipment manufacturer or determined by Everbest Management and record such activity in the respective equipment & preventive maintenance logs.
- Regularly inspecting and lubricating equipment at least monthly or as needed and record such activity in the equipment and preventive maintenance log.
- Using only food grade lubricants where beans are potentially exposed (example: bearings directly over cleaner decks).
- Monitoring and replacing, as needed, belts, bearings, chains, shafts, buckets, drums, spout liners and spouting and record such activity in the respective equipment logs.
- Keeping the shop properly supplied with routinely required parts.
- Working with outside contractors to ensure that any project is done correctly, done in a timely fashion and done with no impact on worker safety or food safety.
- Completing purchase orders for any and all purchases, signing the purchase order when the material is received and giving the signed purchase order to accounting for timely payment.
- Helping to design, lay out, fabricate and paint equipment as needed by the facility.
- Make necessary repairs to broken equipment and machines in a timely fashion to minimize downtime and keep operation running.
- Keep receiving pits in optimal running condition on a year round basis.
- Must be able to climb and do high work.
- Other duties as required and as instructed.
Education & Skill Requirements
- · Must be able to stick weld and use cutting torch
- Must be able to operate took room power tools and hand tools
- Must have good math skills and be able to work with fractions, decimals and percent's
- Must be able to read and understand blue prints & schematics
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to read a tape measure, micrometer and calipers
- Must have basic understanding of electricity & electrical circuits
- Must have basic fabrication & layout skills
- Millwright or Machine Repair Journeymen Card preferred but not required
Work Environment
Maintain the physical environment of the shop area and the facility by:
- Regularly cleaning & organizing shop area being sure all parts and tools are properly and safely stored.
- Regularly inspecting plan and facility grounds and buildings to be sure they are functional and prevent the intrusion of pests and birds.
- Maintaining the external grounds area such that no pest harborage areas exist, the lawn is regularly mowed during the season, drives are maintained, adequate drainage is maintained, and drives are plowed during the winter.
- Regularly checking roofs and side walls for leaks or other problems, making needed repairs and recording such activity in the respective equipment log.
- Maintain all conveyances & processing equipment inside and outside to meet production standards.
- Make sure food grade and non-food grade chemical and lubricants are properly stored.
Communication:
Report in a timely fashion to the Maintenance Supervisor:
- Any issues with processing equipment, bins, conveyors, rolling stock or buildings.
- Any issues regarding work performance, job safety and food safety.
- Any environmental issues effecting worker safety and food safety.
- The need for major equipment changes, repairs or improvements.
- Any facility pest infestations or harborage areas.
- Desire for vacation days, personal days or sick days.
Food Safety:
- Be sure you are up to date on current company policy regarding food safety and security.
- Be sure all parts and tools are accounted for when finished repairing a piece of equipment and record such information in the respective equipment maintenance log.
- Be sure your clothes are proper for your job:
No grease, oil, paint or other foreign substances on your clothes or shoes;
No exposed jewelry:
No frayed edges where fabric might fall into the beans
Worker Safety:
- Be sure you are up to date on current Everbest work place safety rules and attend mandatory safety training. Follow all OSHA/MiOSHA rules and regulations for safety in particular, LOTO, Bin Enry, PPE PRCS, Emergency Evacuations and others as indicated in Health & Safety program.
