Under the general direction of the Quality Assurance and Billing Coordinator this position serves the purpose of ensuring that all necessary assessments, treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, client status reviews, consent forms, and any other necessary documents are being completed correctly, submitted on-time, and properly filed according to all applicable regulations, including State grant requirements, CARF accreditation, Medicaid, and HIPAA. The Quality Assurance Technician must exercise attention to detail and superior organizational skills. This position requires the ability to learn and understand complex regulations and be able to explain them to other staff, notice subtle errors and inconsistencies in documents, and communicate comfortably and effectively with Clinicians, Program Coordinators, Case Managers, Skills Trainers, and Direct Care Staff regarding documents that need revision or are overdue. It also requires an ability to establish structured routines and consistently meet deadlines. This position requires patience and the ability to stay focused on a task for a sustained period, be self-directed, and work independently.
Essential Functions
- Stays informed regarding all applicable regulations related to Medicaid billing and documentation of services.
- Reviews all documentation to ensure Medicaid standards are being met.
- Develops expertise in the navigation of Alaska’s electronic records database system(AKAIMS) and oversees agency’s interface with AKAIMS.
- Updates color-coded Quality Assurance spreadsheet weekly to keep Case Managersaware of which documents have been completed, are due soon, or are overdue.
- Meets with Quality Assurance and Billing Coordinator at weekly meetings to speak aboutQuality Assurance issues and answer questions.
- Available to any staff members who need help completing paperwork and assists intraining new staff regarding documentation techniques and requirements.
- Creates and re-formats documentation templates, as needed.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Strong written language skills and proofreading ability.
- Able to learn, understand, and apply Medicaid regulations, HIPAA confidentialityregulations, and agency policies.
- Able to use phone contacts, internet, and other resources in conducting research relatedto Quality Assurance.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with State personnel and allagency staff.
- Demonstrates proficient general computer skills and can utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access in using and creating worksheets to keep the QA process organized and efficient.
- Able to perform accurate and efficient data-entry.
- Willing to perform other related tasks as assigned.

- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Some experience with Social Services preferred.
- Some knowledge of State and federal regulations related to mental health treatment preferred.
- Experience with AKAIMS (electronic records database) preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
