McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is currently accepting applications for a Full-time Peer Support Specialist to work in its Residential Program located at its Charlotte, NC Headquarters. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for providing care to those who suffer from substance use disorders in the context of "shared experience." They will provide interventions designed to assist persons suffering from substance use disorders transition into a new way of living.
This position will be scheduled for 12-hour shifts, starting at 7 am or 7 pm.
What does this position do for the agency? The position is responsible for the following, with other duties as assigned:
Monitor clients during breaks between groups and activities.
Turn client bedrooms over as clients leave treatment.
Ensure all linens are laundered and stored for next use.
Review belongings of new admissions and securely store items not allowed in rooms.
Obtain emergency contacts for inclusion in chart.
Assist clients in adhering to daily schedule.
Prepare transportation vouchers and drug screening forms.
Transport clients to and from appointments and meetings as needed.
Assist with post-residential placement as needed.
Work with licensed and non-licensed clinical staff to identify areas of need for patients and develop appropriate interventions within the framework of the patient’s PCP.

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Certificates/Licenses:
Current credential as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist.
Must possess valid driver’s license and meet McLeod Centers standards of automobile insurability.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with standard office software.
Work Environment:
The role will work in a typical office environment and as such will be exposed to normal noise levels. The employee will be frequently talking to clients, family members, co-workers, and outside professionals. The employee will frequently move within the building and will be up and down all day between walking around an office building and sitting at a desk. Will regularly be on the telephone and computer. May occasionally travel outside of a building to another work location. May need to lift up to 25 lbs.
