Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Law School Career Counseling Officer. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Career Development, the Career Counselor Officer, plays a critical role in the management and supervision of the daily operations of the Center for Career Development which include, and are not limited to, the following:
- Plays a key role in career counseling and professional development assistance to law students and graduates, with particular emphasis on employer relations and part-time student and alumni counseling
- Career counseling and professional development assistance to law students and graduates, developing and implementing a wide range of programs, events and activities aimed at increasing the knowledge base of students and alumni, as well as the overall visibility of the law school in the broader legal community, and developing and implementing the law school’s employer outreach program
- Work independently within broadly defined work objectives
- Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of legal education, numerous diverse practice settings and practice areas and effective and innovative job search techniques and strategies
