Job Description:
As a traveling RN in the dialysis unit, your role is pivotal in providing skilled nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the setup and preparation of dialysis equipment and supplies.
- Performing assessments of patients' vascular access sites and monitoring for signs of complications.
- Administering medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed by the nephrologist or dialysis nurse.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs, fluid status, and overall health during dialysis treatment.
- Providing education and support to patients and their families on managing dialysis treatment, dietary restrictions, and medications.
- Collaborating with the dialysis team, including nephrologists, dialysis nurses, and technicians, to ensure safe and effective care.
- Documenting patient care activities accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of South Dakota, or eligible Compact State License.
- At minimum, current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications (Certification requirements vary by location).
- At least 1 year of experience as an RN, actively within the last 12 months, and 2 years of Hemodialysis experience.
- Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
- Travel experience required (At least one 13-week assignment prior).
