Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide guidance and support to individuals with mental health and addiction issues, utilizing their personal experiences to facilitate personal growth and recovery. This role requires a deep understanding of behavioral health and crisis management, as well as a passion for mentoring and empowering others.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model and mentor to individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences and insights to promote a sense of community and support.
- Provide one-on-one support and guidance to clients, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
- Utilize crisis intervention and motivational interviewing techniques to help clients overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Develop and lead support groups and educational workshops to promote mental health and addiction awareness.
- Advocate for clients within the healthcare system and the broader community, ensuring they receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
- Provide referrals to additional resources and services, including social work and mental health counseling.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist, with a strong understanding of behavioral health and crisis management.
- Personal experience with mental health and addiction issues, with a commitment to ongoing recovery and self-care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Familiarity with social work and mental health counseling principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
- A strong commitment to the principles of peer support and recovery, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow as a professional.
