SBA Dermatology, now a part of Sanova Dermatology, is looking for a Full-Time Medical Assistant to work under the supervision of the Back Office Manager, Medical Assistant Team Lead and Director of Operations, acts as an extension to the treating physician during clinic hours to ensure quality patient care and efficient patient flow. Represents the company in a professional manner and supports the goals and objectives of our practice.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works collaboratively with our medical providers and reporting supervisor, both on Medical and Cosmetic divisions to deliver optimal patient care
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment, which includes: taking patient’s vital signs, preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, administer injections, documenting a brief medical history, checking patient’s chart for pertinent data (i.e. lab results, complete medical histories, medications, and allergy information) and communicates information to Physician
- Assists Physicians with exams and minor procedures when requested
- Responsible for accurately documenting information onto the progress note as directed by the Physician for that particular visit
- Provides post-operative care instructions, drug samples and written prescriptions as directed by the physicians
- Prepares specimens for lab, culture and biopsies including requisitions accurately and efficiently. Document’s lab and pathology results in logbook promptly. Notifies patients of lab results within 72 hours of receipt of result
- Facilitates pharmacy calls in regards to prescription refills in a timely manner. Consults with physician when appropriate
- Inspects rooms for cleanliness after each visit and cleans prior to rooming the next patient
- Returns patient calls daily in regards to prescriptions and questions. Consults with physician when appropriate
- Maintains an accurate inventory of all instruments and drug sample at all times
- Follows OSHA, CLIA & HCFA regulations and safety guidelines of the practice
- Respects and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Takes patient before and after photographs when required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Knowledge of Nextech and/or EMR software experience is desired
- Knowledge of cameras and computer accessories related to practice
- Knowledge of sterile techniques used in the clinic
- Knowledge of emergency treatment equipment and provides urgent and emergent care when required
- Knowledge of suture removal for post-operative patients
- Knowledge of Blood Borne pathogen safety precautions, proper handling and disposing
- Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) regulations as related to Protected Health Information (PHI)+
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Must be reliable, responsible, dependable and demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally or written

- Ability to work overtime when needed and assist with the workloads of others
- MA certification from an accredited program required
- CPR certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinic experience, 6 months of dermatology experience is strongly desired
- Full time staff position (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday and Saturday rotation
Physical Requirements:
Position is in a fast-paced medical office environment. Frequent contact with patient. Good eyesight correctable to 20/20 and hearing within normal range, manual dexterity and full range motion required. Some bending and stooping required. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. May require occasional lifting of 35 pounds or more.
