Balthazar Wholesale Bakery is hiring a highly-skilled, hands-on Plant & Equipment Manager (in-training) for our Wholesale Baking Facility in Englewood, New Jersey.
Applicant must be an experienced mechanic familiar with a manufacturing environment, who can repair and maintain large scale food-production equipment and machinery including but not limited to: burners; motors; pumps; boilers; electrical components; hydraulics; air compressors; and conveyors. Extensive training on our equipment will be provided.
Note: This is not a Property Maintenance job. This is a hands-on mechanical job.
Responsibilities Include:
· Providing support to the production staff to prioritize tasks, while minimizing downtime and maintaining high safety standards.
· Manage and perform scheduled equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program.
· Maintain accurate inventory of parts and tools, including sourcing and purchasing.
· Clean, and well organized.
· Available for occasional weekend and holiday coverage.
· Work with various external service companies to support uninterrupted use of equipment.
· Hire, train and manage maintenance crew; work closely and respond promptly with production department managers
· Maintain service records and documentation for both equipment and facility.
Job Requirements
· A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a mechanic in a production/manufacturing environment. Food industry is preferred.
· Adhere to and support our HACCP program and GMP.
· Well versed in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and systems.
· Refrigeration and HVAC experience is a definite plus.
· Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as mechanical drawings, schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Must be able to perform basic math.
· Need to also have the ability to communicate effectively with employees in the organization.
· Must have independent means of transportation and clean driver's license.
Physical ability to work long hours in industrial setting, including proper use of lifts and ladders, working in wide range of temperatures, and lifting.

Balthazar Bakery began in NYC in 1997 and has been at its current location since 2000, with an additional warehouse location, nearby. Run by bakers, we specialize in freshly-baked traditional artisan goods, which we deliver daily, 365 days per year to approximately 800 regional wholesale customers.
Much of our equipment is highly specialized for the production of sourdough bread and croissants, and is manufactured primarily in Europe and Japan. There are three production departments, a sales and customer service department, and an on-site retail shop. We employ over 200 full-time personnel.
