Summary: Under general supervision, assesses quality general nursing care to persons served and provides training and support to all Residential and Vocational support staff by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and licensing regulations
Ensure, on at least an annual basis, that nursing and self-administration of medication assessments are completed for each client
Takes medication order from clients’ doctors
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the clients.
Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Teaches First Aid/CPR, Medications, Diabetic and PCW courses in new staff orientation. Including: annual Medication/PCW, client-specific updates and health and wellness training. Other trainings as needs arise.
Actively participates in the Health and Wellness efforts of employees and persons served.
As needed, actively participates in the ISP process as well as the team that provides support to persons served.
Communicates and trains staff, as needed, to ensure clients and guardians understand medical conditions and/or procedures.
Completes MA PC process for necessary clients.
Facilitates new services that may be required (i.e.: a new medical condition that now requires a specialist)
Is part of On-Call rotation
Perform other duties as assigned

Participates in organizational committees and meetings as appropriate.
Adheres to St. Coletta organizational or departmental policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of the Internet and e-mail.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to respond to behavior issues. Ability to create effective business correspondence. Strong organizational skills. Effective time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License
- Willingness to submit to a WI Caregiver Background Check.
- Available to attend paid training (6 to 8 weekdays spread over three weeks between 8:30 am & 4:30 pm)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- A desire to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and other challenges in their personal growth
