Job Overview
The Trauma Therapist will primarily be responsible for providing trauma focused/specialized clinical services, including individual, family and group psychotherapy, to primary and secondary victims of child maltreatment. The Trauma Therapist will also provide information, referrals and assistance to connect with community-based organizations with wrap-around services. This therapist will function as a member of the clinical team, sharing in the mission of not only providing specialized services but also working towards systemic change in the delivery of care to vulnerable populations.
In this role, you will:
- Provide In-person trauma-informed individual, group and family therapy to primary and secondary victims of child maltreatment
- Maintain a caseload of 20-25 clients
- Develop and write treatment plans, clinical notes and various other documentation
- Participate in weekly individual supervision and group supervision, as well as trainings, team meetings, etc.
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, information/referrals to patients and families as needed
- Produce monthly reports for cases managed with disposition updates
We require:
- Doctorate in Clinical/Counseling Psychology.
- Current NYS licensure as a Psychologist.
- Knowledge of psychological theories and research, with particular emphasis on Health Psychology.
- Psychodiagnostic assessment and interviewing skills.
- Psychotherapeutic treatment skills in individual, group, and family therapy.
- Excellent writing skills, public speaking skills and presentation skills.
- Self-starter with strong clinical skills with both individuals and groups.
- Strong interest in women’s issues, domestic violence, and social justice preferred.
- Knowledge of a second language preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (including excel skills).
