Responsibilities:
This position requires an individual with an interest in mechanical design of electronics for highly complex and dynamic physical environments found in airborne and maritime environments. The individual in this position needs to support the design, build, test, and production of mechanical solutions across multiple product lines.
- Aid in the design, drafting, fabrication, and assembly of manufacturing tooling and fixturing.
- Liaison between product design team and production manufacturing team to implement in-situ changes to manufacturing work instructions and engineering design drawings / solid models.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques on both new and existing products to produce optimal design and manufacturing solutions.
- Perform CAD review of PWB designs for DFM and quality issues in compliance with IPC class 3 guidelines.
- Review feedback from internal and external manufacturing and research potential process, design, or documentation improvements.
- Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to formally document and solicit approval for design for manufacturing changes.
- Support failure analysis, troubleshooting, and production issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of designs.
- Collaborate with experienced designers to enhance mechanical design skills.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with 0-2 years of experience in industry.
- Strong desire to learn and implement industry advancements in mechanical design.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Possess excellent organizational and communications skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with SolidWorks mechanical CAD ecosystem
- Excellent presentation and technical writing skills
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
