With the recent acquisitions of several entities in New York, Illinois and Florida, the Scutum Group has built a strong presence in the US market, with ambitions to further expand to other regions in North America through both organic and external growth.
Under the direct supervision of the North America CFO, the Controller position will provide all aspects of accounting support and finance, including reporting, forecasting and budgeting, with a focus on integrating the group’s new subsidiaries in the US and working on system implementations.
Hybrid working model that allows this person to be based in our New York, Chicago or Boca Raton, FL offices. Occasional travel nationally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to the above, the following are the duties and responsibilities of the Controller:

Help build and strengthen our centralized finance organization for Scutum’s US branch

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Manage the accounting operations including review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, revenue recognition and accounts receivable, consolidation of US subsidiaries

Perform the monthly financial statement close and consolidation process, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with US GAAP

Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations

Report financial results to internal and external stakeholders

Coordinate the activities of external auditors and tax advisors

Prepare sales & use tax returns and required business reports for select entities

Provide financial information and analysis to partners within the business

Support the annual budget process

Integrate new acquisitions in the group

Special projects as needed
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills
-
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or business with emphasis in finance
-
8 years+ of accounting experience. Public accounting, construction or security industries is a plus
-
Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firm
-
Experience with multiple GL packages, as well as strong Excel skills. ERP implementation is a plus.
