The Direct Support Professional 1 and 2 supports individuals with developmental disabilities to have quality of life. The Direct Support Professional 1 and 2 promotes the health, safety and well-being of residents. A Direct Support Professional 1 and 2 serves as an advocate for our clients. This is a Level 4I home.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, Regional Center, Department of Developmental Services, and of Title 17 and 22.
- Knowledge of dual diagnosis, Individual Program Plans, client service needs, medication protocol, emergency disaster protocol, abuse reporting protocol, and behavior plans.

Duties:
- Assist individuals with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Assist with transportation to appointments and community activities
- Implement individualized care plans and document progress
- Promote independence and encourage participation in social and recreational activities
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care
Qualifications:
- Direct Support Professional I and Direct Support Professional II certificates highly preferred
- One year experience in a related field working with adults with developmental disabilities in a Level 4I home preferred
- Experience:
- Adult Day Program: 1 year (Required)
- Direct Support Professional: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
- CPR and First Aid Certificate (Preferred)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Training (Preferred)
- Working with people with developmental disabilities: 1 year (Required)
- Direct Support Professional: 1 year (Required)
- Experience in direct support or a related field such as social work, assisted living, or home care is preferred
- Knowledge of hospice care, working with people with autism, or childcare is a plus
- Ability to lift and assist with mobility needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent
