Tern Construction & Development, Inc. (Tern Construction) is a diversified general contracting firm located in Somers, New York. Tern Construction has active construction projects throughout New York State. To date, Tern Construction has successfully completed commercial and residential projects valued at over $300 million. Although Tern Construction is active in numerous fields, there is a strong concentration on multi-family new construction.
We are seeking a Construction Superintendent with residential multi-family experience.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
- Reading plans, layout and installation of all site and building aspects
- Managing the day-to-day field activities to ensure that the project milestone dates and overall schedule completion dates are met
- Creating short-interval look-ahead project schedules that make sure that upcoming events are communicated, tracked and are being proactively attended to
- Verifying that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner (i.e.: plumb, level, straight, etc...)
- Manage and look-ahead no less than two weeks to proactively identifying issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
- Obtaining all inspections and ensuring that the quality aspects of the physical work are fully documented
- Conducting and/or attending pre-construction, progress and other project and staff meetings
- Managing the punch list and project closeout process to assure timely completion
- Maintaining daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence
- Providing timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as accounting, HR, ICS, etc.
- Assist in job costing
- Maintain OSHA Safety standards
- Organize with crew what materials needed for project; order materials as needed
Required skills and expertise:
- At least 5 years’ experience related to Construction required
- At least 5 years’ experience related to Construction Superintendent preferred
- Experience in multifamily construction
- Demonstrated knowledge of the various scheduling, coordination, and detailed aspects of multi-family construction
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong ability to be detail oriented and work with a goal of precision
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
