Position Summary
The Project Engineer/Estimator (PE) acts as a liaison and provides support to the operations managers, and the superintendents involved in Landscape Enhancement and Construction projects. A PE’s responsibility includes, going out into the field with and looking at the existing property, collect good notes, take pictures, collect samples of small landscaping materials for matching purposes, then work with the operations management team to create bid / estimate, change orders etc… will potentially work with developing submittal logs and tracking deliverables, reviewing submittals, issuing RFI’s, soliciting pricing for and preparing change orders, issuing change orders, coordinating enhancement activities, submitting materials orders, assist in generating and updating project schedules, and generating and compiling project close-out documentation. The PE is responsible for document administration and assisting the assigned operations manager with all aspects of a project as directed. Additionally, this role will also provide accurate and detailed cost estimates for landscape enhancement projects. You will collaborate with clients, project managers, and landscape designers to develop comprehensive proposals that meet client expectations and company standards. This position requires a strong understanding of landscaping practices, plant materials, irrigation systems, and construction methods specific to Arizona's unique climate and environment.

- Administration/Recordkeeping:
- Inputs data in various systems, participate in project orientation meetings, communicate and coordinate submittals and coordination drawings with the Superintendent
- Responsible for proactive administration of reviewing and processing all submittal data and drawings to ensure project schedules are expedited and materials are delivered on time
- Participates in project meetings
- Attends and participates in meetings to provide information and assist the Operations Manager in the preparation of progress reports/meeting minutes
- Distributes proposal change documents to the team members, suppliers and assists in collecting pricing and/or prepares change proposal requests for internal pricing review
- Provides clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., to updated drawings and fully coordinates these items with the Operations Manager
Pre-Enhancement//Construction
- Assists in project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with operations manager
- Supports project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements
- Communicate with the OM on all conflicts or changes associated with the project
- Supports the project plan by reviewing design, specifications and plan changes, recommending actions
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures rules and regulations
Enhancements:
- Maintain orderly project documentation of all field purchases and activities
- Coordinate work schedules at the Operations Manager/Field Superintendent’s direction
- Schedule equipment and materials at the Operations Manager/Superintendent’s direction
- Ensure timeliness of all submittals
- Maintain and submit accurate, timely reports and forms as required
- Accurately and continuously incorporate change orders and update project drawings during enhancement
- Analyze updated documents and drawings, and forecast any possible field problems; recognize discrepancies between documents and field conditions;
- Write RFI’s, change orders as directed by the Operations Manager
- Attend all meetings on-site
- Process project applications of permits/inspections.
Close-Out:
- Support closeout efforts in timely manner; Archive project information per company policy/procedure
- Closeout Checklist: The PE is responsible to create and keep an updated closeout checklist from the beginning of the job through completion. The closeout checklist tracks all closeout items required at the end of the job and when they are received.
- The PE is responsible to gather all closeout documentation for the project and ensure that it is delivered in the proper format and uploaded to the system. Closeout Documentation includes but is not limited to: Operation and Maintenance Manuals, Warranties, Demonstration and Training, As-Built Drawings, etc.
Estimation and Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and landscape designers to understand project requirements and objectives
- Conduct site visits to assess existing landscape conditions, measurements, and potential enhancements
- Prepare OST takeoffs when client submits formal landscape plans
- Prepare basic landscape drawings
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Develop comprehensive proposals that include project scope, materials, timeline, and pricing
Client Relationship Management:
- Engage with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and budgetary constraints
- Present proposals and cost estimates to clients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
- Industry Knowledge and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on current landscaping trends, materials, and best practices relevant to the Arizona region
- Attend industry conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance professional skills and knowledge
- Share expertise and insights with the team, contributing to the overall improvement of the landscape company's operations

Education/Experience/Licenses
- 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Design Architecture or combination or related field - preferred
- 2+ years experience in the landscape enhancements industry - preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook - required. Any experience in Sage Timberline - preferred
- 21 years of age or older – required
- Valid Driver License and acceptable motor vehicle record - required

- Work will be performed in the office and out in the field for jobsite walks
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and move frequently during working hours
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. floor to waist, lift 10 lbs. waist to shoulder, lift and carry 30 lbs., and push/pull 40 lbs
- In this role during job site walks, you will frequently stand, walk, climb or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces
- When working in the field you will be working in conditions of extreme heat, wind, rain and must be able to be in direct sunlight for potentially several hours at a time
