Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting medical staff by providing coordination of resident care and assisting with medical services needs, educating residents on individual health conditions and maintaining a safe environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Weekly and daily follow-up with to monitor infection(s) when needed.
- Administration of medications and vaccinations as requested by the physician or psychiatrist.
- Complete nursing assessments, Aims and ensure HCAs are completed.
- Follows the verbal order procedure.
- Administration of first aid as needed.
- Provides care as ordered by physicians.
- Monthly diabetic foot evaluations.
- Assists with coordination of resident psychiatric, medial, dental, and optical appointments as needed.
- Performs DMA and initial medical classroom training.
- Educates DCS on the use of scales, PB monitor, O2 use, thermometer, stethoscope, glucometer, wheelchair and hospital bed equipment.
- Participates in medial rotation.
- Assists with development and revisions of medical policies and procedures.
- Assists in the destruction of controlled substances as outlined by DEA guidelines.
- Responsible for triaging medical concerns.
- Audits the use of Quickmar and Nextstep Programs.
- Monitors physical health issues of residents at assigned sites.
- Educates staff regarding infection issues, physical health and behavioral treatment of residents.
- Coordinates behavioral treatment and physical issues with physician and psychologist.
- When needed, provide input/data/summaries as part of the Infection Control Plan.
- Participate in the influenza campaign and provide data where requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education & Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of Minnesota with a minimum of 2 years previous experience.
- Maintains own mandatory training and certification requirements.
- Proven capability of interacting with many disciplines.
- Proven ability to deescalate tough situations.
- Proven ability to be able to provide care as needed.
- Approved by federal, state and local government entities to work at Beacon.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to complete required training in connection with The Joint Commission, CHMs and other government bodies.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language required.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Potential for physical aggression from residents exists.
- Potential exposure to infectious disease.
- Ability to operate and manipulate equipment.
- Walking, standing, moving to provide services.
- Lifting and moving objects, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Ability to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
- Significant amount of travel required to visit BSLS facilities.
Working Environment:
Some work may be performed in a home-like setting and in community facilities with potential of exposure to infectious disease. Universal precautions are required to minimize the risk of infections. Work sites may include locations that are not barrier-free. Duties are preformed in an environment where there is a potential for physical aggression from residents.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
