Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ)—a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York City—seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Director of Institutional Giving to join our Development team. The Director of Institutional Giving will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
In this full-time position, the successful candidate will lead the Institutional Giving team that manages the foundation, corporate, and government portfolio; this team raises approximately $50M in private revenue. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development—and working closely with the Individual Philanthropy and Development Operations verticals—the Director of Institutional Giving will help to facilitate strategic, collaborative fundraising efforts for HCZ’s core mission programs and campaign initiatives. The successful individual will lead the stewardship and growth of Institutional revenue. The Director of institutional Giving will be a valued member of a supportive Development team driven by an ethos of continuous learning, professional development, and improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-10 years of related professional experience
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or equivalent software
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)

What You'll Do
- Manage a portfolio comprised of foundation, family foundation, corporate, and government donors and prospects, leveraging prominent support; this portfolio consists of leading NYC and national funders
- Steward current relationships as well as develop strategies to approach new prospects in New York City and nationally and re-engage lapsed funders
- Oversee annual and multi-year Institutional Giving strategic planning and implementation
- Supervise two full-time team members, the Grants Manager and Institutional Giving Associate
- Oversee all aspects of institutional grants management inclusive of proposal writing, submissions, reports, calendar cycles, and site visits
- Identify and manage select family foundations and support the Individual Philanthropy team in all grant-based funding
- Serve as a visible liaison for Development with other departments across the organization, including Finance, Program, Research & Evaluation; help to ensure that all activities are aligned for successful grant submission and management
- Track all interactions and related-donor activity in database system, including assisting with revenue projections and donor analytics
- Sync the grants management and administrative support teams while collaborating with staff across departments to source content and supplemental information for ongoing proposals and reports
- Orchestrate with administrative staff to coordinate detailed agendas and briefings for meetings and site visits
- Proactively seek and receive professional development aligned with short- and long-term career growth
- Support the team with other projects and events as needed
Schedule
- This is a hybrid position with a requirement of minimum three days in office per week.

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000, with a performance bonus and comprehensive benefits package, including employer-covered health insurance.
