Under minimal supervision, responsible for performing insurance verification, providing patient financial counseling and performing routine audits of accounts in an effort to identify opportunities for accurate charging practices for assigned service line. Reviewing daily charging patterns and maintaining accuracy of charges. Serving as a resource for billing and reimbursement questions.

What you will need:
Education and/or Experience Required:
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
A minimum of six months of business office/clinic experience
-
Previous insurance and managed care experience
-
High level of communication skills
-
Basic computer knowledge
-
Strong problem solving skills
Education and/or Experience Preferred:
-
Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or related field
-
Billing/reimbursement experience for assigned service line
-
Insurance knowledge of managed care, Medicare and Medicaid
-
ICD and CPT coding experience
-
One year of previous patient accounting or business office experience
-
Knowledge of governmental and commercial/managed care billing and reimbursement practices
-
Knowledge of a hospital’s revenue cycle from patient scheduling and registration through billing and collection

Knowledge of EPIC system and third-party payer requirements
License and/or Certification Preferred:

Certified Professional Code (CPC) certificate
